First Director Institute of Combustion Problems, Ksandopulo Georgiy Ivanovich
CEO
Institute of Combustion Problems Mansurov Zulkhair Aimukhamedovich
The Institute of Combustion Problems
- to develop cooperation with the leading universities of the country, other scientific and educational institutions and industrial enterprises for training and retraining of specialists in the field of advanced materials and technologies. Priorities for the Institute are the following: a) creation of new nanomaterials with specified properties from hydrocarbon raw materials; b) obtaining pure materials and alloys with specified properties and structure; c) the fundamental principles of development and deep complex processing of mineral raw materials with obtaining products of increased marketability.
The main scientific direction of the IPG in both fundamental and applied research is the study of the chemistry and physics of combustion processes in the gas and condensed phases:
- study of the structure of gas flames;
- study of problems of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis of new materials;
- production of composite ceramics based on carbides, silicides, borides in SHS conditions;
- production of carbon nanostructured multifunctional materials;
- processing of oil products and gases using the principles of technological combustion;
- development of energy-intensive and environmentally friendly technologies;
- mathematical modeling of combustion processes;
- Plasma chemistry. The development of the institute causes an increased interest of foreign firms, contributes to attracting foreign investment through innovative projects, ISTC international projects, INTAS, etc.
History of the Institute
Chemical physics is at the intersection of two sciences: chemistry and physics. In Kazakhstan, the development of chemical physics is associated with the study of the structure of gas-phase flames, research into the application of inhibition of gas and condensed systems, and the production of SHS refractories with improved characteristics. These works were started in the 1960s under the guidance of Professor G.I. Xandopulo and were conducted with the active support of the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry, Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR BA. Beremzhanov and rector of KazSU. CM. Kirov, Academician U.A. Joldasbekov, who also considered these studies promising.
The achieved success of the team of researchers headed by Professor G.I. Xandopulo, served as the basis for the creation of a laboratory of physical and chemical research methods at the chemical faculty of KazGU in 1972, and then the Department of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion. In 1987, on the basis of the Department of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of KazGU, the Kazakh Interdisciplinary Scientific and Technical Center for Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis (SHS) was established.
Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 295 of 24.07.1990 with the active support of the Minister of Education of the RK Sh. Shayakhmetova on the basis of the Department of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of the KazNU named after. al-Farabi and the Kazakh Interdisciplinary Scientific and Technical Center of IFOR, the Institute for Combustion Problems was established in which research was continued both in the field of fundamental and applied research in chemical physics, as well as solving problems of practical interest for the Republic of Kazakhstan. The first Director of the Institute of Combustion Problems was Academician G.I. Ksandopulo.
Since 2000, the doctor of chemical sciences, professor Mansurov ZA has been appointed director of the IPG, which he manages to this day. The scientific results attracted the attention of the Nobel Prize laureate, Academician N.N. Semenov, academicians Ya.B. Zel'dovich, V.N. Kondratieff. N.M. Emmanuel and other world famous scientists.
The main task of the Institute is the development in the Republic of Kazakhstan of such fields of science as chemical physics, combustion processes, plasma chemistry, mechanochemistry, nanomaterials and nanotechnologies. Our goal is to reach the world level, to make applied science as practical as possible to production and business. Proceeding from the goal, the objectives of the Institute's activities are:
- to develop new forms of innovation activity, scientific and technical cooperation with scientific organizations and industrial enterprises, foundations and other structures with a view to jointly solving the most important scientific and technical problems of creating and introducing new materials, including nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, analyzing and certifying the final products;
